1967-'72 Chevrolet & GMC Pickup, Key Blank Chart
-
A couple of guys have asked about key blank numbers and replacement blanks so I thought I would post this up.. The Lock Code Series is the number that is stamped into the locks. The code number may be stamped on the door lock cylinder, sometimes one, sometimes both. If any of the locks have been replaced with new ones they may not have numbers. Check the passenger door first. Generally the lock case will have to be cleaned very well to be able to see the code number. A small wire brush, steel wool, scotch bright, or sandpaper usually works well for this. I do not recommend a wire wheel because it will completely remove the code number if it is stamped lightly. The code number is always stamped into the lock case, never cast into it. Most locksmiths can cut a key from this code number. Home centers and hardware stores will not be able to do this. If the locks are original to the truck or were all replaced at the same time the key made from the code number on the door lock should fit the ignition switch. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1967: Lock Code Series: 0V00-9V99 & 0W00-9W99 Key: Groove 50, "A" Keyway Original GM Key Blank # 320588 Cross Reference to other brands of blanks: Curtis B48, Dominion P98A, ESP B48, EZ B48, Ilco P1098A, Jet B48, Silca GM10R, Star HBR12A, Taylor P91A ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1968 : Lock Code Series: 0N00-9N99 & 0P00-9P99 Key: Groove 54, "C" Keyway Original GM Key Blank # 320652 Cross Reference to other brands of blanks: Curtis B50, Dominion P98C, ESP B50, EZ B50, Ilco P1098C, Jet B50, Silca GM20R, Star HBR14C, Taylor P91C --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1969: Lock Code Series: 0J00-9J99 & 0K00-9K99 Key: Groove 56, "E" Keyway Original GM Key Blank # 320652 Cross Reference to other brands of blanks: Curtis B77/B78, Dominion P98E, EZ B77/B78, Ilco P98EV, Silca GM26RP, Star HBR9E, Taylor X98E -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1970: Lock Code Series: 0E00-9E99 & 0F00-9F99 Key: Groove 58, "J" Keyway Original GM Key Blank # 320470 Cross Reference to other brands of blanks: Curtis B46, Dominion P98J, ESP B46, EZ B46, Ilco P1098J, Jet B46, Silca GM70R Star OBR10J, Taylor X98J -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1971 : Lock Code Series: 0A00-9A99 & 0B00-9B99 Key: Groove 50, "A" Keyway Original GM Key Blank # 320588 Cross Reference to other brands of blanks: Curtis B48, Dominion P98A, ESP B48, EZ B48, Ilco P1098A, Jet B48, Silca GM10R, Star HBR12A -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1972: Lock Code Series: 0N00-9N99 & 0P00-9P99 Key: Groove 54, "C" Keyway Original GM Key Blank # 320652 Cross Reference to other brands of blanks: Curtis B50, Dominion P98C, ESP B50, EZ B50, Ilco P1098C, Jet B50, Silca GM20R, Star HBR14C, Taylor P91C As you can see, 1967 and 1971 use the same key blank and 1968 and 1972 use the same key blank. I will include a picture of the location of the key blank designation letter on some keys. This indicates what keyway the key fits. This one is an "A" keyway. LockDoc -
