Re: ignition installation problem need help

WELCOME!!!!! to the greatest source for 67-72 Chevy/GMC truck info anywhere.

You may have to work the wire around a bit.You also need to have the key in the ignition.IIRC you need to turn the key towards the acc. position. It sometimes helps to work the wire in and out a few times to loosen the pin inside up a little.I have also WD40'ed the mechanism or used "Lock Ease" a graphite based lubricant for locks.

BTW you can also do a search in the FAQ section for more info on this.Member krue has done a great job of compiling a guide for it.

The removal info is toward the bottom. The link at the bottom isn't working though.

Re: ignition installation problem need help

It will take you 30+ minutes unless you are a magician...LOL! You can actually feel the allen wrench/very stiff paper clip depress the spring release for the dogs at the bottom of the hole. Jiggle like mad and pull the pin and key out at the same time...YES...they both pull out 99 out of 100 times and leave the barrel in place...JUST KEEP MESSING WITH IT...give up 5-10 times and then try again...LOL!

Re: ignition installation problem need help

John, that's why we come here.It gives us a chance to show off our vast storehouse of information that is useless to anyone but lovers of these trucks.Others just tend to kind of wander away when someone starts going on and on about an old Chevy/GMC.So what's the next thing?

BTW There's an known rule that once we help with a problem we expect to see pics of the truck.J/K,but we do love pics.

Zeeklu has one of the prettiest looking trucks on the planet. I don't want to sound light in the loafers but it is PRETTY.
