Help With Blazer Tank Conversion on Old Blue!! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey guys! I just came in for a few minutes to look at some pics of the under bed Blazer tank conversions for my '69 LWB. The piece of crap repo I got will not fit and I have slotted the holes...sawzalled the lower and upper and side pieces and cut the neck off but it still will not mount flush tot he cab or line up witht the filler hole. IM hot now and PO'd...so.....Im very very seriosuly contemplating buying a under bed Blazer tank conversion next weekend and was wondering about the filler placement. Id rather not have it sticking up in the center of my bed...even though Ill probably never haul anything in it again. My question...Ive seen itmentioned in some older threads about putting the filler behind the side marker lamp??? Has onyone done this?? What does it look like? Id loove any pics you might have of how youve installed your tanks and where you put the fillers. Thanks in advance! This site rocks! Oh yes almost forgot...Im heading to Asheville NC next weekend to the swap meet at the Airport exit off 40. Went last yr and loved it! If you guys have the chance...you should check it out! Just right up the road is Brevard NC nd there are some awesome waterfalls around there. Take care!

Sadsack,post up the details on the swap in the meets section.Lots of the Tn. boys check it regiularly since they get together a lot.

You got it PanelDeland! I already started today after my post. I checked in the search at the top of the page for Blazer Tank swap and found one from Frizzle Fry (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?t=234732).
I followed his advice and checked the website out...ordered my surplus tank for $52 total including shipping UPS! I wish I had found his thread a yr ago!!! Already got my spare tire out of the way and threw my Taiwan tank in the barn! Ill be taking pics along the way and post it as soon as I make progress! Was scratching my head trying to figure out what to do about the gaping hole left in the side of my cab with no tank...and brainstorm! I whipped out my trusty Sawzall and cut the neck off my Taiwan repo...installed the new gasket Id purchased and forced the neck into its intended hole. Twisted my original cap on and it looks great! Im gonna either do the sidemarker gasdoor or put it in the bed...havent decided yet...but from the outside itll look stock. Little things like that excite me LOL.

One tip I read from someone who did that is to make sure that you cannot get the gas nozzle into the opening & pump gas inside the truck.Just a thought.

Good point! Ill have to address that one. I think I can use a pipe plug...paint it black...hmmm... maybe a PVC cap from Home Depot...? Ill have to sleep on that one..thanks for the advice chevyboy55!
