Re: Air Bags
Just curious about the HE's. I thought most guys were using RE's front and rear?

Even w/a loaded trailer, the front still has to carry more weight than the rears. If your running the smaller bag so you don't have to run any cups in your a-arms (which is my guess), why not run the same size all around?

Re: Air Bags
i run the he's up front because they are a little stiffer feeling. i don't run a sway bar up front only shocks. still handles well.

Re: Air Bags
If you are running a fullsize truck, which I hope you are since you're on here, then you're going to want to run a 7" bag in the front. The RE7 is a 2600 lbs bag that comes with a single 1/2" port, and has a 200 psi pressure rating. The 7" bag is best up front on your truck because it has a higher lifting capacity which will give you more lift at lower pressure. And since the early model C10 trucks have the factory shock relocated to the outside of the control arm, you can run the RE series bag which is softer then a HE or XS series.
Here's a picture of a 1960 - 1987 C10 Front Bag and Bracket kit. ![]() Typically a RE6 would be used on a ligher truck like an S10, or an early model car that has a narrower spring pocket and clearance issuse are a problem. Out back you can run several different bags depending on your suspension application. If you are going to run the bags over the axle then a RE6 or F9000 would be best fitting due to the inset of the rear frame rails, and the size of the pumpkin. Here is a picture of a truck with RE6's off the front of the axle, and it got about 7 inches of travel out back. If you were to raise the upper bracket you could easliy install some F9000 bags and get 9 inches. ![]() Good luck with the project. Clint Petree KP Components Inc. 866-KP-LINKS www.kpcomponents.com |

Re: Air Bags
I see your point in running the bigger bag in the front, but with only a hundred pounds difference I'd rather have the extra room around the bag
RE-6 Replaces a firestone 255c or contitech 2500# bag. (Front) RE-7 Replaces a firestone 224c or contitech 2600# bag. (Rear) |

There is so much room around the 7's it's crazy. The frame on the 60-87 trucks doesn't have a spring pocket like the 88-98 trucks where you have to cut them for clearance. You can run which ever bag you want to, but I would seriously reccomend the 7 up front. Here's some specs to help explain why we are suggestioning the 7 up front. RE6 @ 100 PSI @ 7 Inches = 2260 lbs lifting force RE7 @ 100 PSI @ 7 Inches = 3217 lbs lifting force You can see the difference in performance between the two bags @ the same heigth and pressure. Basically you can get the same lift at a lower pressure which in turn means you will get a smoother ride. The 6 would work but it's going to take a greater force (air pressure ) to get that heavy truck up to the same heigth which will make for an extremely stiff ride. The information about the lifting force for these bags can be accessed directly off Slam Specialites website http://www.slamspecialties.com Let us know how they work out either way.

Re: Air Bags
you REALLY need a 2600# bag in the front. Any weight is a big deal when its held up with air pressure. Your going to need so much pressure to get the front up and drive with a 6" bag that it will ride like poopoo.
