Here's what I got done this past week!
My son's 15th birthday is quickly aproaching and I wanted to make sure the truck runs dependably before he takes the keys away.
I finished the paint job, and just have a few odds and ends to perform to get the truck on the street, (new tires and finish bleeding the brakes) We still have the wood bed to go and I will be attempting that myself as well. Thanks to all the help from everyone on this site and all the parts people have been willing to sell me. The advitisers have also been a pleasure to work with. Things we have done: 2 1/2" drop spindles on the front. Conversion to disk on the front Power steering Tilt wheel Power brakes dropped the rear 5" dechromed New interior Black paint New seals roll pan New bumper Smoothed tailgate Replaced all the rusted out fender cap, inner fender, battery tray and section of radiator support. It was all hours of blood sweat and tears spent with my son in an attempt to pass on my knowledge or the lack there of as well as spending some quality time. I have also included a picture of the next project that I bought myself for fathers day! Last edited by rchdrm; 06-24-2007 at 10:11 PM. Reason: add pic |

You need to put up a pic of where you started. Big change IMO. Did you install the shorter front springs of the 2 sets or leave the original 68 springs in? It sits good. Looks pretty good for 'lacking knowledge'.
Let me know if you need help w/the brakes.

Re: Here's what I got done this past week!
I used all of the parts we pulled from the 73 except for the springs. The original on the truck were at least an inch lower so I kept them instead.
I have been reading some of the details about the other truck issues and I believe I may know what I am doing wrong. There was not a bleeder bolt on the proportioning valve and I just thought it was an extra port so I put a screw into it. This may be where my air is trapped. I did add a line coming off of the carb to the power brakes today. I was also amazed that the valve cover oil cap was missing its gasket so I purchased a new one of those and it really helped the truck run much better. |
