tailgate install

Hey guys got a 70 gmc and i need to instal the tailgate. Whats the best way to do it with out banging things up? thanks

Do you bolt the "round holder" to the besides before you slid on the gate. or bolt one side then slide the other one down? or do you slid them into the gate on both sides then slide the gate down?

you put them in the holes on the gate, slid the gate onto the truck, hook up the supports, let it lay flat so you can get the top bolt in on each side then close it and put in the bottom bolts in then tighten them all up


thats how i did it

Put the left trunion on the truck first, then slide in the left side of the tailgate in, holding the right side way up on the right, make sure you have the right side trunion on the tailgate and then slide down slowly until you line up the holes.

Yes And If Your Paint Is Fresh Use Masking Tape On Both The Tailgate Edges And The Bed. Then Ask A Freind To Help.
