Tranny off ebay???

Ok so it's $1200 to have my tranny built locally to handle up to 500 hp (I only have around 300-350 hp) or I can buy this one off ebay. What do you guys think???

It would be nice to pull one out and put one immediately back in!

Re: Tranny off ebay???

Take into account the shipping charges, but then again you won't pay sales tax if you are out of state, so that might cancel that out. If there happens to be anything wrong with it at all, even a manufacturing defect in the torque converter or something, this will most likely be an as-is item, no warranty info was mentioned. If there is a warranty from the manufacturer you will have to pay shipping back, then wait rather than drive up to the shop. With someone local you get the trust factor, and you can go back to them personally. Of course all of this only matters if there is a problem too!

They haven't posted anything on eBay in a year and a half which might not mean anything tho.

It's probably an awesome tranny, just things that I would consider if I was thinking about it. Wheigh the savings and and the convenience vs. the chance of a problem, and it's a judgement call for ya after that, I'd be on the fence too.

I'd check this guy out before I bought one off of ebay.

Re: Tranny off ebay???

Yeah I found it kind of weird he hadn't sold anything on ebay. Plus I emailed him and no warranty.

Try this I've had the 700R4 for years. and have had no problems with their products. Their home page says they will be in Long Beach and then Pamona.
