This truck came up recently when someone was looking for pictures of patina'd rides, and has since caused me to lose a great deal of sleep admiring it. I'd really like to get additional pictures of it or more information about the truck if anyone has some.

I know patina is all the rage, but I just don't get it.

I agree with Krue.
These days, you get a rust bucket with bailing wire holding the hood shut, and it goes for top dollar... becouse it's a classic, and you don't have to add (???) the patina.

I still say it sounds like shampoo

Easy fellas not so rough on patina !!! I love shiney trucks also but as it is I can't afford mine to be pretty !!! The patina thing is kinda growing on me , Maybe it's cause some of us have no choice. If it makes us poor folk get some praise than I'm for it!!!!!

i drive beaters too. but when you are sold a part with a rust hole, and it is advertised with natural patina... enoughs enough already.

I agree selling a part w/rust hole as patina is wrong !! That would be like me calling my truck a show truck!!!!! I guess what I meant was My truck makes me happy the way it looks!!! Maybe someday I will paint it!!!! Untill then patina it is!!!!

My truck came out of Wyoming (dry climate). It looked a lot like that truck only my missing paint was missing paint, not painted to look like it was missing paint. 3 months in Minnesota (we actually have moisture in the air) and it was RUSTING.

If you want that look, you have to paint it that way.

rust is what i think it stands for,,faded paint, with a little natural rust throwed in for good measure.. ive seen alot of these types of patinas in alot of junkyards, to me i would never have driven it like that for long, faded paint is ok, but when it shows alot of surface rust,,then it time for a case of primer in a can for now...but im starting to like the look..but i know if you drove something like that out here with the road salt in the winter, it wouldnt be long before it was rusted through...i dont think i could drive it that way for long with spray bombing some primer on it..

Well I bought a truck because of it's patina (and it's the original paint in the right color). I think it's more fun working with a patina'd vehicle. When I shopped for replacement pieces for some side trim I wanted pieces that were a little banged up so they'd look right. It's certainly cheaper than trying to find straight pieces!! I also don't worry about scratching it. Door dings I will worry about, but a lot less than if it was nice and shiny.

patina n. A thin layer of corrosion, usually brown or green, that appears on copper or bronze as a result of oxidation.

Okay, now the mixture of primers on my truck adds to the value? There's paint under the primer...P.O. primered it before he sold it. So some "judicious" application of some paint will get it to look like it has a patina, and that will be cool. Yeah, that will save me some $$$, money that I could just spend on a new powertrain....383 small block....700R4....interior stuff, too.

Geeze, I wish you guys would just lay off of the neat ideas and let an old man live in peace.

I usually consider patina as it appears in Rod and Custom, etc. In fact, I've seen trucks with a patina in my part of the country, and they usually need paint, for sure.

The key here is get all the original paerts to end up undamaged by the time the paint poops-out.Oh,That picture was taken at Charlotte Auto Fair.
