On 64-66 c-10's .What vehicles can I use to swap to a 5 lug rear end and front dick brakes without major modifications, I would like to know if there is anything that would just bolt on in stock locations? thanks

Re: Rear and front disc brake swap

Will a 72' rear end bolt up in a 65', or is it wider ? Also do I need the spindles and what else of these trucks to do a front brake swap?

Re: Rear and front disc brake swap

I just picked up a 72 rolling chassis. Everything seems to be the same except the rear end is a 1.5" wider than the 65. I can live with 3/4" wider on both sides.
Good luck

Re: Rear and front disc brake swap

I've just recently done this to my 1965 Chevy. I used 1972 Chevy Spindles, calipers, and rotors for the front and yes a 1972 rear axle will bolt up directly to a 1965 chevy C10 without any modifications. However, I just kept the rear axle drum instead of converting over to disc.

Re: Rear and front disc brake swap

For the front you can use parts from a '71-'87 1/2 ton pickup, Suburban or 2wd Blazer. For the rear diff, the '71's and '72's are 5 lug and a direct bolt in...just 1 1/2" wider overall. IIRC the '73-'87 rear diffs are the same width as the '71 & '72's....someone correct me if I'm wrong. You'd just have to do some cutting, welding and fabricating to make the later ones work. Also I do believe there is info in the FAQ's, and at the top of this forum.

Re: Rear and front disc brake swap

so stoked for the info shared, I was about to create a thread asking the same thing. Can the booster/MC be swapped directly over as well? Lastly what about lowering springs anyone know of a good company for a really slammed look? I dont want to go bags on my truck but definetly want to get her pretty low
