cleaning up the frame

I'll be tearing down my new shortbed to the frame this weekend to begin a frame off restoration.

The first order of business is to clean up the frame and get it covered with something.

I figure I'll start by power washing the frame. What's the best method of getting it cleaned up? Wire wheel? Some type of flap grinder? Easy off oven cleaner? Give me some tips here.

Then I figure I'll coat it with some POR 15. I talked to a guy who said he thins it down and sprays it on. Is this a good method? After I put on POR 15, do I need to cover it with anything?

I think I'm going to use black, since I have already powder coated my upper control arms black.

Re: cleaning up the frame

I had mine sand blasted and the cost was only $90.00...probably the best money I've spent so far!
