What kind of T-Case do I have?

Ok, I am gonna throw this out to the board and see if I can learn something more about what I have.
What I do know is that its a Rockwell.
Original to my 68 K20 4x4 Suburban.
Works great, but noisey as hell.
A b!tch to get disengaged.
The tag has a date from 1967, but being that my truck is an early run 68 there are other parts with 1967 date codes as well.

Being that this belongs to a truck that I am trying to keep as factory original as possible, I am all about learning anything there is to know about what is in it. So all comments are welcome!

Thanks!

Re: What kind of T-Case do I have?

I have the same one. Rockwell T-221 Transfer case on my 68 K-10.

It's gear driven and known to be noisy. Very expensive to find parts and rebuild so most guys switch to an NP 205. Mine is difficult to engage as well but i'm sticking with it until (if) it blows up....

Yep T-221. Says so right on the tag. I would consider the upgrade to the NP 205, but thats just me.

Re: What kind of T-Case do I have?

My Rockwell used to be very difficult to shift until I pulled it out and rebuilt it. Most of my problems were from the shifter mechanism bolts being loose. Mine shift VERY easy now.

It`s a good case.Rockwell makes tough stuff.Just an older design making it rarer on parts/service.
