Is it possible?
My friend (He has no internet) has a mid 80s (83 I think) C30 dually and he wants to convert it to 4wd.He doesnt have the $$$ to spend on a dana 60.He wants to know if a dana 44 or corp 10 bolt can be converted over to dually style front hubs or if he just has to get a dana 60 with the drw style hubs.

Re: Is it possible?
I am pretty sure that you can use the spacers that are used on the late model duallies ('88 and up IFS body style). They should bolt right on to an 8 lug 44/10 bolt.

Re: Is it possible?
There are kits to make a dually for 3/4t trucks.

Re: Is it possible?
Well...... The 44, and the 60 can be converted from DRW to SRW, so logic would say that it would go the other way. I have never done it, but it sounds logical. Something also about the size of the spindle. The 44 has a small one and a large one, but I think that was 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton, 1/2 being smaller, and would have to be made larger.

Re: Is it possible?
they didnt come stock so he would need the aftermarcket adaptors I had looked in to getting a set to use hummer wheels once and it was more money then I wanted to spend for the price he could add 200 to it and get a D60.

Re: Is it possible?
when did a d44 ever come dually!?
you will need a 5" spacer to do it, dually axles are 10" wide than a srw. |

Re: Is it possible?
I miss spoke. The 44 was not ever DRW. I was thinking of the 60 I guess. Still I am sure they make a kit for it.

Re: Is it possible?
They make kitalmost 400 for one so your better off just geting a d60 you can get DRW d60 cheap between 400 and 600 is the norm so why waist the cash on the kit to turn a d44 in to one.

Re: Is it possible?
Good point, Earl87gta. The 60's in DRW are cheaper. I think because everyone wants to change them to SRW. Not mant people building a duelly.
