Famous Gas Gauge problem
I have searched and searched on the board and still couldnt find what I was looking for.
I have an 82 with the tual tank setup. The original owner had problems with the tanks and decided to only replace the one tank on the passenger side. The gas gauge how ever does not work. I have dropped this tank every weekend since I have gotten it ( I could probly do it blindfolded now). sender is grounded, (sender is less then a year old so I doubt there is a problem there) sender is hooked up. The only thing I can think of now is maybe something was not connected to the gauge itself. The tank switch has been disconnected, and no gas lines go to the other tank, although it is still there. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for the gauges and sender wires? |

Re: Famous Gas Gauge problem
Did the wiring diagram help?
If the fuel tank selector valve is not present, then maybe the fuel gauge was never rewired directly to the sending unit.

Re: Famous Gas Gauge problem
These trucks were set up with a default tank; set to switch over if there's a short in the tank switch system. On mine(1980K10) it's the Right tank. You may think you're on one tank when in fact you are on the default.
Worth investigating... - Dave
