Now we shall see how it feels to shift from 1st to 2cd @ about 5500RPM with a 502HO, T400 and 3.07 Posi.(and see if anything breaks

Re: Hut oh-new play pretty

Have not tried a full blast pass yet. Not quite as brave as I use to be (72 years "young"). Shifting at that rpm should put the motor at or near it's TQ peak (550ftlb @ 3500rpm) in the next gear. Just putting it in drive and letting it shift itself feels pretty strong. I was afraid to try to shift it with the stock lever at that speed as I did that on a 1951 Mercury and it went into Park at speed . The front bumper was throwing sparks. lol Took me 10 minutes to get up the nerve to try the gears to see if they were still there. They were. Whew!!

Re: Hut oh-new play pretty

Your thinking of a star shifter. The mega is full ratchet.

Yes it is a rachet shifter (slap) in one mode and a regular shifter in the other. Have a B&M Starshifter in my '56 Bel-Air and I love it (had it since '86 and no problems) They both work about the same.

Re: Hut oh-new play pretty

Since I had my stroke last October, I have found that some situations make me smile uncontrollably. I suspect that driving your truck in any fashion would make me grin from earlobe to earlobe.

But I gotta tell you that I once rode in a 468CID '67 Nova HT, equipped with a rockcrusher Muncie, and a 4.88 Posi. I was never so happy as to be able to actually get out of that car and stand on solid ground.

Maybe it was the operator that caused that feeling.

I'd like to try it for myself and see if I still had that same feeling.

If my oxygen bottle would hold out (truck driver for 40 years and a smoker), I would come out and take you a ride. Got a sister that lives in Augusta.
