Hand cleaners

What do you guys use to clean your hands after wrenching? I have used alot of different stuff over the years. From solvents to pumice, but my vote has to go to the original GOJO. That stuff really works well. Way better than fast orange and others like it, I think. What do you guys think or use?

I use the orange hand cleaner when I'm only semi dirty. If there is grease on my arms etc... I keep a spray bottle of purple power to use. Cleans a whole lot faster than pumice soap, just be careful if you try it because it will eat skin if it sits to long.

i usually stick with gojo too// if and when it goes on sale for a dollar a tub i usually get 5 or 6 at a time

good old dishsoap works pretty good, it's made to cut grease, and it's cheap

This is what I've been using for a couple of years now. They work great. Looks like there kinda expensive too. Grainger has this in their catalog for "Kaching" $67.70, Item #5FX95, Page 1184. It's a case of two and depending on how greasy you get one will clean both arms "smack dang up, clean off to the elbow"

That Purple Power works good, but watch out if you got any cuts on your hands when you use it. That stuff burns like a MoFo if it gets on them. You quickly find cuts you didn't know you had when you use it. Since I am poor, or at least to cheap to buy anything good, I just use the liquid dish soap. It works pretty good for the price.

My gallon of Gojo is about empty, and I've also used liquid dish soap. Hmmm, has anyone tried Simple Green?

Lava bar soap is awesome. Also when im planning on getting really nasty I will rub dish soap on my dry hands and arms prior to wrenching. Then when all done, wash as usual and it helps a ton.

I keep boxes of the cheap Harbor Freight latex gloves around for real dirty jobs ... works wonders at keeping my hands clean and silky smooth.

Have also used Lava soap, Castrol Super Clean, Simple Green, GoJo, Fast Orange, Lacquer Thinner, Kerosene, Dish Soap WITH a little Salt (actually works better than you might think.), 409, Westley's Bleach-White ... all with pretty much the same results.

The gloves work best.

The best stuff I get over here is from a store called Aldi and it´s what I think is the best you can get around here.
It´s called "Handwashpaste" and it works great if you have alot of oil on your hands.
For light dirt I grab a normal bar of soap.

liquid dish soap sprinkled with granulated automatic dish wash detergent works for me.little rough on fresh cuts though.

X2, been using them for better than 10 yrs now. Prolly just as cheap as the hand cleaners once you add up how many tubs it takes to equal one box of gloves. The GM(a little thicker and more durable than the regulars) gloves are really nice and at $8 for a box of 100 I think you would have to buy at least 5 of the little tubs of gojo and would need more while I still had glove to spare, just my .02...Randy

I use the gloves but also work for Aramark Uniform.We supply hand cleaners and soap to lots of customers and just started carrying a Soy handcleaner.I really like it because it cleans my hands without drying them out too much,actually seems to make them softer.I also strongly recommend using a good quality hand cream or lotion,"No Crack" from "Restoration Hardware" is a bit expensive but works really well.I use it daily and when I'm going to get really greasy.My hands used to get so dry from cleansers they would be cracked and gritty black dirt would lodge in the creases and small cracks.The lotion solved that problem.
I find that if my hands are cracked and dirty,I can't get Mrs.P to hold hands.If Mrs.P ain't holding hands it can get cold and lonely at my house.

I wear gloves, but when I need to I'm a GoJo Pumice guy, followed by Lava and then an anti-bacterial hand soap. Sounds kinda crazy, but I work in a job where I have to have clean hands Monday morning

Baby wipes work great, and they are cheap. My bro-in-law's truck broke down at the bank, and I helped him replace the starter. My sister had the babybag in the truck so we wiped up with the baby wipes, they worked way better than I expected. Give it a try.

I've always used Lava, Fast Orange, and Goop. Goop is great at getting oil/grease out of clothes too.

I agree. I usually always keep a pack of these around and in all my vehicals, just for general purposes.
