Stock cd player in 99 sub?
has anyone replaced the stock cd player in a 99 sub, was it difficult to do? Mine is giving me trouble and i don't want to replace the entire system just the bad cd player. Also where can you buy a stock cd player for a 99 sub.
Thank you.

Re: Stock cd player in 99 sub?
i replaced mine in my tahoe with an aftermarket player. they make a kit with a cubby to rep[lace the factory unit. then get a wire adapter to plug and play. it's about 40.00 for all that plus whatever cd unit you go with

try getting one from a salvage yard, usually about $50 gets you a factory replacement that will fit right in.

I worked at a stereo shop for 3 years. These are some of the easiest vehicles to put aftermarket radios in unless it hase factory bose premium sound. You need a dash kit, wiring harness, antenna adapter, and about an hours time. Not a bad job at all. If I can answer any questions let me know.

Re: Stock cd player in 99 sub?
I have a stock CD player out of a 2001 truck that I want to get rid of. Worked great when it was removed. PM me if you are interested.
Not sure how the theftlock system works and if that prevents you from moving the radio from vehicle to vehicle though. Last edited by Pyrotechnic; 07-15-2007 at 12:44 AM. |

Isn't the dash different? My 99 sub is like the 97 -98 truck, they change whole body style and interior in 2000 so i'm not sure it will work. Thanks guys. Now how do you get the dash apart? I don't see any screws that hold the face plates down.

Put the shifter in low, and pull on the bezel. It should snap right out. The radio is held in with plastic clips on the side. Squeeze them, and pull the radio out.
