Shortening long to a short 69

Hello new here my brother introduced me to you guys. He has three trucks. I've had two before and now just picked up a 69 long and will be making it into a short. I have read the steps from Early Classics Enterprizes and will be having a friend do it at his shop. Has any one done this? Any pictures our links will help. Has anyone done the box too? I'm not planning shortening the bed but hopefully I can find a fleet side box for it. Thanks guys

Welcome to the forum mr64magic. Take a look at the FAQ section here. There is a great "how to" on cutting the frame down correctly...

Yes there has been a few people who have done it on here......I am one of them....12 inches out in middle and 8 inches off back of frame. There have been some people here that have shortened the panels but I just bought new swb panels from Goodmark......measure 4 times weld a little.

Re: Shortening long to a short 69

Here's mine. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=181633 I prefer the Z cut myself but to each his own. Also, DO NOT CUT 8" OUT W/O MEASURING FIRST! I would highly recommend cutting just 6" first and seeing if your bed will fit without hitting the frame, then cut more if necessary. An 8" cut leaves only an inch or two from the bed bolt hole and is unnecessary unless absolutely needed-remember measure twice, cut once.
