Need Header Advice...

I am rebuilding a 1972 C10 and I have bought Hedman Headers from JEGS for the 350 SB and they rub the frame. I have been told by Jegs that they have sold me the ones that they sell to thousands of 72 Chevy truck owners and they should fit my truck ok. I know that when I fire my truck up and start to drive it, the headers will rub and eventually rub a hole in the headers.

I have been told to have them altered by a muffler shop and I have been told to cut a notch out of the frame to accomodate the headers. What do you suggest? I need help in the worst of ways! If you have bought headers recently and they fit perfectly, please let me know brand and model.

Thanks,

Russ

Help from Austin

I built a 1996 383 stroker with vortec's
I also bought headman headers had a hell of a time trying to figure out what model #. When it was all said and done I had to slightly notch the top edge of my frame about 1/2 deep by 4" long.
When I finished feathering it in with a grinder you can hardly tell that it was done.
I thought I was the only one with this problem since I used vortec's
But it all worked out just fine.
P.S. I also used 1 7/8 headers
Good Luck
Don

Re: Need Header Advice...

I just put full-tube Super-comp ceramics in my 69 GMC 396. They are snug but don't even begin to 'rub' anywhere. If there were a problem I would return them- I deal with Summit Racing, and they would never tell me what JEGS told you
Call Summit or go online and get their part number for the same headers.
If the number is the same then you have to decide if you want to fix the bad engineering or maybe go with a different brand or different model.
I hate being talked to the way you were- like you are the only person on the planet that is too stupid to bolt on a header.
Post back and let us know how this ends up?
