A little more info wouldn't hurt. More room for your belly, legs, or both?
You could try this.....

It only gets you a couple of inches of extra room but sometimes it can make a lot of difference. It won't change the leg room though....

Classic Trucks magazine did a feature a couple or three years ago on a silver 1969 Chevy truck from the Dallas area. The owner had extended the cab of his truck by six inches, but it was not evident at first glance. He even moved the dash back and added length to the steering column to make it all look more normal. One of the comments in the magazine article was that a GM engineer said it looked like factory experimental exercise. Apparently, that engineer was involved with GM trucks, back in the day. I think the owner had a '67 front cap on the truck, but overall, it was clean!!

Aside from that method, I don't know how to create more significant room in the cab of these trucks. I know these are alot larger than the cabs from the 30's and 40's, but I also know we have a bit more room in our late models.

Sell the truck and buy a blazer or burban? I'm not trying to be a smart a** but there is only so much room in a p/u to be had. Moving the tank will get you a few inches, useing bucket seats will get you some room in the middle, and sinking the steering column and/or a tilt will get you a couple inches but other than that your not going to get much more room inside the cab without an extended/crew cab conversion or as I already said replacing the truck with a blazer or burban.

Remove the gas tank and install slimmer/modern seats. That may give you an inch or two.

I think Classic Trucks did an article on like a 55-59? style seat where the made the back half of the seat thinner (can't remember if they cut it or removed foam?) and recovered it.

removing the tank alone ain't gonna do jack.
The seat hits the wall above the tank. Remember the first time you tossed your arm over the top of the seat and got your fingers pinched?
When i installed my e-bay seats, I noticed the seat backs were thinner. This made it possible to slide them back a bit more. Just an inch makes a huge difference. Tilting the seat back helps too amazingly enough.

try moving your steering wheel closer to the dash. Good write up in the FAQ section. It really helps if you are circumferentially challenged.

There was a truck running around Seattle called "LEGROOM" that had the cab stretched 5". It looked like it was slightly chopped at first glance. It was for sale for a while so you might be able to find something on it on the internet.
