is this a good deal?

ok, im kinda new to the automobile scene, and was just wondering if i would get ripped off if i bought this truck?
due to technical dificulties, i can not post pics on this site, so here is the hyperlink: http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z...travstruck.jpg

here are the details about it: Chevy Pickup . Big Back Window Pick up . Drive it home. 350 4-bolt engine, turbo 400 trans and a 12 bolt rear. Motor has Holly high rise 4bl aluminum intake good gas carburetor, and hedders. It has power steering , and manual brakes. The Cab is very good around the roof line, and glass lines. No rust in the bottom cab corners . The bed and floors are original and very nice, need no replacement. Glass has no cracks or leaks. No major rot, needs paint. Chrome mag wheels. Remember Drive it home.
PRICE REDUCED $ 1,900

so will i get ripped off or is it a good deal? is there anything that yall see that might mess me up?

thanks

Re: is this a good deal?

Oh it has rust my friend. You may not see it but it has rust. Any of these trucks in that shape has rust. It may very well be fixable though. And if the engine runs good and the truck drives good, I'd pay 1900 for it. I paid 1200 for a truck in pieces. From the pics it looks like a good deal.

Re: is this a good deal?

Keep looking!!

That looks like a $500 truck to me.
If it's as solid as the seller is making it sound, maybe $800.

Re: is this a good deal?

is there some thing special about the truck?

i can see rust on the drvers fender next to the door. and at the pside cab corner, and on the eyebrow line.
the seat is trash
doors dont match on the inside

have you seen this truck in person?
i dont think its worth $1900, there is nothing that stands out about it.

4 bolt 350 means nothing unless youre throwing down 350+hp and are a dime a dozen. th400 would be a bonus if you are planning on using it to hual or hual ass but again not hard to come by or install.

what do u mean? you cant even see the driver's side door on the inside....and also, im not trying to restore this truck to pristine condition, i just want a daily driver. so...im not too worried about the seat...you can cover that, im not too worried about the trannie...ive got another just like it. so i guess what im saying is "it aint gotta be perfict"

Re: is this a good deal?

Whenever you see "price reduced" on an ad, it means they obviously started way too high, and they probably still are way too high.

Be patient, you will find a better deal. If you have to have a daily driver for now, buy anything else for $500, and sit and wait for a better truck to show up. When the better truck shows up dump the cheap daily driver.

Never pay a premium for a vehicle because the owner is touting the drivetrain. That's the one thing that's the hardest to verify. If could be a spray can rebuild on a 200,000 mile motor for all you know.

premium - $1,900 is definitely a premium on a long-bed with rust. That crappy repaint could be hiding a lot of shoddy body work.

touting the drivetrain - the seller seems to be touting the drivetrain (engine, tranny, rearend). Those pieces are just so hard to actually verify as solid pieces. The engine could blow tomorrow, the tranny could go, and the rearend could all go. It's relaly hard to say.

spray can rebuild - when someone cleans / repaints an engine to make others believe it's lower mileage, or even a new rebuild, even though it's an old worn-out engine that's on it's last leg.

Re: is this a good deal?

I paid 500 bucks for this one. 67, 3pd, 283...not perfect but a pretty decent deal. Found it on craigslist. And just think how much I could do with the extra 1400 bucks you wanna spend on that one. Keep looking man, the deals are out there. Heck I could sell the seats alone for 400 bucks. (ok, I got lucky on the seats)

Re: is this a good deal?

If you buy it and feel all warm inside, by all means it was a great deal. You did ask our opinion on the price though & it does seem a little high.

I paid $350 for my 69 (pic) CST W/rebuilt factory big block, TH400 trans & lots of options. That made me feel VERY warm & fuzzy inside.

Re: is this a good deal?

keep looking..these trucks are out there,,and they are right this truck is way over priced...i bought my 68 gmc for 350 with out a motor,,for another 350 i can drop a running 350 in it...my truck is almost rust free....you just need to be paitent,,and wait ,,or you are gonna get itno a major headache and spend to much on a truck to start with,,and then have to spend even more to make it dependable...i wouldnt go over 500 for this truck,,and that is if it ran great..

I have to agree with the others and lets not forget you asked for our opinions. There is nothing that stands out that I can see where the owner has put any green backs into this truck.

If you decide later to turn this into a project it will need everything! Lifes too short to drive around in this truck even if it's a driver. You would be better off paying more and buying a nice driver and perhaps a future project.

esll.
