250 I6 with a 700R4
Does anyone have a 250 I6 with a 700R4 tranny in there trucks? I am pulling the my 250/TH350 to swap it over to another chassis, and I know know would be the time to do the 4-spd upgrade.
If anyone does have the setup, how do you like it? Do you have a problem with the step between 1st and 2nd gear like I have heard mentioned? I know that I would have to get a TV cable, and the correct wiring to make it work, but since this is my daily driver I don't want to regret not doing the swap when everthing is apart now. Keith |

Re: 250 I6 with a 700R4
I'd go with the 200 4R personally... it'll bolt right in with no drive shaft mods (slide the X-member to the TH400 spot) and it doesn't have the stupid gap between 1 and 2 like the 700 does.

Re: 250 I6 with a 700R4
it ran along beside the 700 as far as years.
I wouldn't call either one heavy duty, I'd call them both light duty myself. They both have one or two strong points, and many weak points. UNless you plan on beating the crap outta it, or towing, the strength won't matter bolted iup to an inline. And if you do plan on beating the crap or towing, I would second guess the automatic overdrive thought all together. |
