Up-date on my project

Here's a couple of shots with it "slammed". There is about 2" under the Fat Man crossmember so at ride height it will have 5". A good buddy is making me a stainless 20 gallon tank to go under the front of the bed. I will post pics when I have them. Once the tank is done I can finish the bed floor. Enjoy.

My garage is anything but huge. It's about 23' x 23'. I move Momma's car out so I can work. I have a workshop on the back of the house that has all my wood working tools and storage for truck stuff. In the winter it's a pain because I have to go through a finished rec room to go from one to the other or open the garage door and loose all my heat. I know, *****, *****, *****.

I have posted frame pictures in the past so search on my "bondobob" name.

I milled the tail lights and third brake light out of aluminum. The tail lights are modeled after the later fleetside style.

The folding straps are my design.

Off the top of my head I would say 56" but I will check my notes this week. The axles are from Currie.

I bought the Shockwaves through FatMan and those are what they recommended. I told him I wouldn't be hauling anything but ass. I'll add their model number to my list of things to look up.

Thanks so much for the kind words. It's been two years with probably two more to go.

There is more to the straps than just the aluminum pieces. There are machined pivots with snap rings at each end and one in the middle and they're all different. Originally I was going to adapt ones off of a mid 80's Chev pickup but decided to make my own. Also had to notch the gate. I made hidden latches first and went from there.

Up-date: The axle is out of a Bronco (3:50 Traction Loc) that is narrowed to 57". The front Shock Waves are 1000SA and the rear are 7000's. Hope that helps. I sure hope the rears are powerful enough because I don't have any extra room to put in bigger ones.

Looks great. I love the stance. It has to feel good to get it outside and walk around a take a look at different angels. I know how first hand that looking at them in the garage all of the time gets old.

I also like the tail light and tailgate treatements. You got to love louvers.

I just found out that a local guy does louvers for a buck a piece! Oh yeah!!

Man, that thing looks GOOD outside! A buck a piece for louvers is a great deal. My truck came with a louvered hood, and at first, I didn't like it. I want even more louvers now. So what color and wheel/tire combo are you considering? It's starting to look more like your avatar everyday.

Thanks again guys. I really can't decide on either the color or wheels. It may have to be in primer for awhile but some of my thoughts are: Mercedes Red, Black, Silver, Marina Blue (Chevlle color) or even "Racing" Orange.

For wheels I've been thinking of American Racing 200S in 17" x 7" and 17" x 11" with as-cast centers. 26" diameter fronts and 29" diameter rear tires. I want it to look like it was built in the late 60's. How about Chrome Cragars? My only real problem is they have to be at least 16" to clear the brakes. The way my $ is disappearing they may have to be painted steelies.

I went with 17x7 front & 17x8 rear American Racing Ansen Sprints, I think they'll give a cool 60s/70s look
