Shined up the Chevy Longhorn 70

Here's our 70 Chevy Longhorn Truck Cst. Shined up the original paint a little and redid the interior. Still has original seat covers, door panels, arm rest etc.
Only thing replaced was steering wheel, woodgrain inserts, and dash pad.

Beautiful truck!
I take it that you have a very large camper from the looks of the mirrors????? The fact that it is a Custom makes it even that much nicer.
Like it!!

Great looking longhorn! Maybe mine will look that good one day.
out of curiosity, why did you go with the wood grain stuff on the dash?

That's how it originally came with, the woodgrain interior dash. Just replaced it new that's all! And this ain't the cheap decal woodgrain sticker stuff! These woodgrain inserts are made from hard formica material that will never peel up like the decal stickers do in the heat. To me, these woodgrain inserts are awesome pieces that will last and looks like original!

hmmm, never seen a 70 with them. All my books say 71/72 only, my old CST didn't have them either, only on the door panels.

Well, maybe your'e right! My truck too does have the woodgrain design on the door panels. When me and my Father bought it, It didn't have no woodgrain on the dash. We just had the thought that It might of came with it originally, so we just went ahead and installed the woodgrain inserts to match it up with the rest of the woodgrain stuff that it really came with.
But still, looks pretty dressed up I think! Thanks for the info though.

Re: Shined up the Chevy Longhorn 70

regardles, it's a nice longhorn, and you're bringing it back to life instead of ripping it apart for the cab and front clip... seen too many longhorns put to death just to donate the cab for a SWB truck.

Need drool icon...That truck is so fine.
Just a general FYI.Woodgrain on dash is a Cheyenne Super-only thing. It was photoetched onto an aluminum panel fastened to the g-box door (same as`72 doorpanels)with adhesive and the cluster piece is photoetched onto a smooth plastic panel. They don`t peel, only the mylar repro stuff does that.

You know, you can swing those in and flip the heads around for a tucked-in look.Won`t be out there waiting to get whacked off like that.I always get nervous seeing them hanging out there like that.

Re: Shined up the Chevy Longhorn 70

Years ago I had a 66 3/4 Chevy with a fairly large camper. It had some extended mirrors that stayed on the truck that way all of the time because the camper was on and off a lot. I came home from work one day and there was the truck in it's usual place, my ex drove it occasionaly, and the passengers mirror was dangling by a thread, so to speak, hanging mangled/glass broken and bracketry all twisted and bent over. I went in the house and asked "what the he** happened to the truck?"
The answer: " well I was going through the drive through at the bank,,,,,, and it didn't fit."

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
