Tranny questions

I've got an '82 Chevy Scottsdale 4X4 with automatic transmission that I just did an engine swap in. I replaced the factory 305 with a new 350 that I got from JEGS. Engine swap was done with the help of 2 others that knew what they were doing. I replaced the distributor and carb with new ones also. My problem is now when I put it in D the transmission feels like it's not going past 3rd gear. Any thoughts or ideas on what might be wrong?

Re: Tranny questions

maybe a dumb question, but is it an OD tranny like 700R4? Cause, you know, if it's a Th350 there ain't no gear past 3rd. Another thing, OD trannies rely on the TV cable to tell them how much pressure to apply to the clutches and how long to keep gears before upshifting - too loose of a cable burns up yer tranny, too tight of a cable keeps gear real long and may prevent OD engaging. TV cable adjustment or at least check is necessary when the carb is replaced, so maybe there's yer problem?
