Blazer top glass thickness

Does anyone know the thickness of the glass in a single wall 72 Blazer top (I think it is either 3/16" or 1/4")?

Is the side glass the same thickness as the hatch glass?

Thank you for your help.

I have some orginal glass out in the storage shed. I went out and miked it;
it shows .215 thats right at 7/32". I am not a glass expert so I dont know if that is what "1/4" glass measures at, your glass shop should know that. It was the same for side and rear pieces.

Re: Blazer top glass thickness

Thank you very much. I, too, miked the glass and came up with .204 (close to the 7/32" that PPG told me it would have been originally). Replacing it with tempered glass gives me only 3/16" and 1/4" options. I will opt for the 3/16" plate to be tempered--a little sealant between the glass and the seal is better than having the seals fit poorly around the fiberglass, which is, I understand, what might happen with the thicker 1/4" glass.

Hey thanks for sharing that. I didnt realize thickness options were a problem. There was a guy at the Pleasanton Goodguys show last year that specialized in flat plate... custom cut for classics and hotrods; he had a large selection of tints (incorporated into the glass)too. Now if I can just find his info and card in all the reems of stuff Ive been colecting for this project.

Re: Blazer top glass thickness

I spoke with PPG--they no longer make the top glass. PPG sold the blueprints to The Glass Man (classicflatglass.com) in California (530) 626-6923 who will cut them and send them out for tempering. PPG part numbers are DT1107 for the side windows and DT1108 for the hatch glass.

Just to update--the correct thickness is 7/32 and is available tempered through classicflatglass.com.
