Suspension on a 61 4x4

I've got a 61 4x4 that is in pretty good condition with the exception of the 198x step side bed the previous owner tried to pass off. The existing leaf springs have are supposed to be greased regularly, but looks like it hasn't been done in decades. The holes in the springs are starting to get wallowed out a bit. I have a parts truck inbound and am hoping that the springs and pins will be good on it. Is there a replacement suspension kit or a lift kit available that will help ease my current dilemma? I'm not too worried about staying factory, but I don't want to deviate too much either.

TIA,

Jeff

I am not sure where you are located but If you end up wanting to get sell the frame off of the parts truck I am looking for some rails to put new suspension on. Thanks

Re: Suspension on a 61 4x4

I would suggest finding a '73-'87 4x4 pickup,Blazer or Suburban and switching over to the newer suspension that uses rubber/urethane spring eye bushings. The main drawback depending on your capabilities would be having to change the spring hangers and shackles. That way you'd have far more options available to you for suspension upgrades at current/future time.Just my .02
