Anyone try the plastic dash covers?

Has anyone tried the hard plastic dash covers from LMC? Do they fit well, and look like the stock dash? It seems like a good idea, but I'm not going to do it if they are a piece of crap and dont fit right.

They fit great and look even better.

I didn't use one from LMC, but it was from a local dealer, and was made by accu-form, it was also in black, so I dyed it blue to match, and the dye wasn't the exact blue stock 84 used.

I'd highly reccomend you get the color you want from them.

I got mine from the local guy for $70, colors would be $20 more and he didn't know how long it would take to get one in color. So I bought a can of SEm for $12 and dyed it blue, still cheaper the LMC's price and that's without shipping.

Only spot mine doesn't fit perfect is around the dash trim on the passenger side.

I was in a hury so I didn't take my time and make it fit perfect, I bet with more clamps on it while it dried it would have been perfect, if not then it would have just took some filing down the edges or of the cover inside where it goes behind that dash trim on that side.

All in all though looks great, I notice it everytime I get in and thank, Man that looks good, now I need to dye the door panels and maybe the seat to match it.

hey chris,do those just glue over the stock one or do you peel it off or something?

they glue on. by budddy has one and personally i dont like them. he got it because his is a work truck and the plastic is hard and not easy to break.

Personally chris did a better job them my buddies interior guy did so his looks alot better. and like his had issues around the insert. So i say if you want something that can be thrown at a car and not break go for it (my buddy did )

Yea mainly I had issues with that trim, the trim wouldn't go on after the cover was installed and the cover didn't want to go on with the trim in place. I needed it clamped better in that area of filed it to fit perfect.

Yea it glues over, uses a tube of rtv that comes with it. Gotta hold it on with weight, clamps or bunji cords for 4 hours to let it dry.

They are really flexy I think, mine would flex and twist around alot before I put it on, but it didn't break.

i will have to look into these...i seen on episode of trucks,,i think it was, where they did the whole interior wit this stuff...looked good on tv...

Cool, thanks for the feedback.. I think I'll give it a try. I plan to install it with the aftermarket billet trim piece, so that might make it easier, because doesnt that piece have backing plates that you screw into to clamp it all together?

I've had one in my 75 for 4 years now and it still looks pretty good. I got it from LMC. The only thing is make sure you put plenty of adhesive on and clamp it good. Mine is starting to pull up in some places and warp in the sun. I'll post pics if I remeber tonight.

What year truck are you working on?

I agree they look good and are WELL worth the cash if you can't afford $269 and up for a new repo dash.

I read in the booklet that came with it I think, or somewhee that they have slip over door panel covers too. I was like wtf? Never seen or heard of thoose before.

These are made by Coverlay, you can see their products on their website. The door panels are replacement door panels, not slip over covers.

What year truck are you working on?

86 chevy with a tan interior. The dash is actually dark brown, but I think I'll change it to Saddle to match the rest of the interior

If you look on the page I linked, there are original OEM dashes also.

The covers I have are coverlay.

Well the door panels I'm talking about ARE NOT replacements they are covers. I remember clearly reading covers.

I was thinking HUH? I didn't know they HAD covers for door panels. I thought all they had WAS replacements.

Doesn't make much since to have covers for door panels IMO LOL.

I'll look around and find where I read that at.

My dash cap is accu-form has it right on the booklet and underside sticker of the cover itself.
