Rear Bumper

OK i know its an old topic and every thing but i plan to go junk yard diving and id like to know what will work. I have a 1986 chevy silverado ANd she has the step bumper.

Id like to put in the rear bumper that the blazer/jimmy used like this

My question is from what year to year did this go with and i know the blazer, jimmy and suburbans had them but would a van one work as well. Thx for the help

Re: Rear Bumper

Van bumper is too wide. You need a bumper from 81-91 Burb or Blazer or 81-87 fleetside pickup. Stepside bumper looks similar but is too narrow.

Re: Rear Bumper

The 73-80 was available with or without the rubber guard. You can run the early style bumper on your truck, but it won't match the front.

As BeaterC10 stated, yoou will need a bumper from 81-91 Burb or Blazer or 81-87 fleetside pickup if you want it to match your front bumper.

Re: Rear Bumper

I'm pretty sure they call that a sport bumper. They came painted and chrome I'm pretty sure, and the 81-87's some came without holes for the bumper guards because I see listed in lmc how they have some with and without holes.

If the van one fits post pics so we can see it.

Re: Rear Bumper

It was the standard bumper for these trucks, but most were delivered without bumpers so the dealership could put on their step bumpers.

Get the brackets from the donor also as your step bumper is NOT the same.

Re: Rear Bumper

ok thx i have a buddy that has a 85 blazer im getting for my truck its bent but i get the brackets and bumper for free and i dont like the step pumper.

Id like to lower the truck but i like using it as a truck to haul thinks. aka cannos and stuff(parts) and i dont think a lowered 2wd will be that good for off roadig on dirt. And by off roading i mean gravel or dirt roads and some hills small ones

Re: Rear Bumper

Blazer inner brackets WON'T work on your pickup, you need them off a pickup.

Re: Rear Bumper

You can get the bumper and the outer brackets, but the inners won't work on a pickup.

Re: Rear Bumper

looks like it fits just like the stocker.

LMC sells bumper brackets and full kits, but you guys that are getting freebie bumpers or junkyard units are gonna have more in brackets then anything.

The whole kits with all the brackets and bolts is like $120 and the brackets one each are like $20-40 each or something?
