Hello to all. I know everybody probably has an opinion but would like to know brands that you like. I am going with a TPI setup off an 86. Currently have a 327 but trying to decide if I want to make the leap to the 383. If you want to offer specs too that is great but I thought I might call the tech lines to find what they think. I guess the TPI will make a difference?

as long as it is NOT From Comp Cams. the cores they use are awful and are notorious for being bad or going bad very quickly

go with a lunati every machine shop and racer i have talked too strongly reccomend them plus i use one myself and love it.model # 00010 duration 230@.050 lift of .480 on both intake and exhaust.i have good power from a touch over 2 grand on up over 6000 its still pullin

I have had tow sig erson cams that were fine. Haven't tried other brands.

Beats me...that is the only two cams I have purchased...one for my 78 firebird and the other for 67 Mustang. The last one I bought was more than 6 years ago. I think they were in orange and black boxes.

Crane Energizer for a driver. Cam and lifters can be had for $100. Good power and excellent reliability.

My vote is for Crane.
I've had nothing but good results using their cams.

Didnt see melling mentioned. 1500 miles on mine. So far so good.
Got over 100 thousand out of a crane blueprint 327/350 horse cam on the last rebuild.

I say step up to the 383 with the GM Vortec heads and GM's HOT Cam. Scoggin Dickey sells the heads and the entire cam kit with lifters and springs. Medium size cam, good vacuum, good idle more than 400 HP and 450 ft-lbs. Perfect for any truck.
