Re: What do you get when you???

the extra gas caps were for the saddle tanks, they were placed where they cut the rocker box out on both sides. Thats a nice blazer you got Burt4x4. mines not going to be a show truck by no means, but i want to make a go dependable hunting, off-roader out of it. i like the rock sliders you put on yours. if you get a chance could you take a few pics of your mounting points.

Re: What do you get when you???

Naaa show trucks are not my bag eaither

100% Function before beauty!

I do not have any pics handy on how I mounted my rocksliders. Basically my rockers were rusted REALBAD, like most. so I cut them out and that exposed the rocker box/cab support. So I cut and cleared until the 3x3square tubing fit flush against the rocker box. The bottom of the rocker box has a lip that the factory used to spot weld the rocker too. I bent the lip down and then welded the 3x3 slider to that lip. Basically my sliders are welded to the rocker boxes. I have slamed then many many times on rocks and they are still holding on strong
Good luck with your project, you will love hunting in that rig! Holds all your gear and you can set an air mattres in the back for a good nights sleep

Re: What do you get when you???

That's a great mod IMO, provides better approach visibility having the low pro hood.
Looks cool/different too.

I'd do it to my trail ride if I could ever find a front clip.

Re: What do you get when you???

What got moved where?

I thought you had just installed an early clip on your blazer, then read in another post that you used the entire cab...?

What parts from which vehicle are being used in the final truck?

Re: What do you get when you???

vtblazer:
i used the cab along with the front clip. I cut the top off, mid section from front to back. cut the A-pillar 10" down from the top. the floor was cut just in front of the rear cab mounts, (the reinforcements in the floor). the complete dash was also used. the only thing that was used from the blazer was the bed. from the b-pillar rear-ward. the front of the bed area steps down at a 90 deg angle. i drilled the spotwelds that connected the floor to the bed. drilled the spotwelds that connected the rockers to the b-pillar, so the whole floor, rockers, kick panels, a-pillar and dash was removed as one unit. then placed on the frame of the blazer. got some measurments from the blazer floor to referrence where the truck floor needed to be bent up then drilled for spot welding. i cut the window frame 10" down on the blazer so to weld it onto the truck so the blazer top would attach. started on sat around 5:30 pm, worked sun and finished mon afternoon. was fun, had a good time.

Re: What do you get when you???

69towrig
the floor, kick panels, a-pillars were all gone. instead of trying to cut them all out and replacing them and getting them to match would have been a real chore for a non body guy. this was my first time at body work. when you took the top off, you couldn't open the doors. the body dropped about 2" then when you got the door open the body dropped even more. with the door open you could lift up on the door and lift the body about 4". dont take this as being a jerk, just working with what i have.

eedgell,
is that yours?? that is sweeeeeet.
some more info on that one....

That's alot of work in only a couple days!

I've done the same thing only different...
Used a truck firewall and a blazer windshield frame to make mine.

Re: What do you get when you???

thats what makes this hobby so fun. everyone has there own likes and dislikes. if we all built our trucks the same, then there would be no use for a board like this. build them, show them, be proud of them. i my not like everthing i see, but i can appreciate the time and labor that goes into everyone. you put a little bit of you into everything you do, we can all look and see something that we like about a truck, maybe not the way you would do it but turn it around and add your touch, then it looks good on yours. just keep doing the things you so i can enjoy seeing them.
