fire wall question.

I am back again still searching for help. I am installing a vintage air system in my 68. V A sends a plastic cover to replace the heater housing on the firewall. I don't think I will care much for it. So my question is what has anyone else done at this point. I don't want to "patch" it (or don't know how to ) but would like some ideas ( PICS EVEN BETTER) of some of your crafty thought and ideas. This is the last step to completion (IF THERE IS SUCH A THING) Other than copying the plastic to steel and painting (has anyone done this) i am lost.
Thanks for your help.
Gary

Re: fire wall question.

I might be interested in buying the cover if you go a different route. If you decide to change it, would you send me a PM please?

Re: fire wall question.

You can see pics of what I did here.
http://slickorange.com/engine.shtml

I just made a cardboard template that covered the area that I wanted, then I put that into metal.

I actually did it from cardboard - to CAD - to laser - to metal.
But, if you don't have the laser and the CAD at your disposal, you can still do it. It's amazing what you can do with a sawzall and a die grinder.

Re: fire wall question.

On ebay someone was selling the patches already made to weld in. Could always buy and get someone to weld in for you
