I am back again still searching for help. I am installing a vintage air system in my 68. V A sends a plastic cover to replace the heater housing on the firewall. I don't think I will care much for it. So my question is what has anyone else done at this point. I don't want to "patch" it (or don't know how to ) but would like some ideas ( PICS EVEN BETTER) of some of your crafty thought and ideas. This is the last step to completion (IF THERE IS SUCH A THING) Other than copying the plastic to steel and painting (has anyone done this) i am lost.

I just made a cardboard template that covered the area that I wanted, then I put that into metal.

I actually did it from cardboard - to CAD - to laser - to metal.
But, if you don't have the laser and the CAD at your disposal, you can still do it. It's amazing what you can do with a sawzall and a die grinder.

On ebay someone was selling the patches already made to weld in. Could always buy and get someone to weld in for you

Great stuff...I bought the heater delete plates (with the beta A/C plate) and stake pocket plates...Excellent quality with a perfect fit.
