Question WIW - 4WD 72 Blazer (Everything Except Body)

Just trying to get a few ideas, wife and I have discussed going a few
different ways w/ GQ and I wanted some opinions from my friends. No
matter what you say you will NOT affend me, so be very honest. This
is not a 4 sale post. (But I might be going that direction) Here it is ...

I would say 2K, and that is having knowledge on the products you have listed. The normal blue collar guy isn't going to be impressed with zinc bolts and most guys nowadays don't know what camel hump heads are.

The motor is the biggest selling point, but it doesn't have a warranty to go along with it(I have/had the same problem selling a zero mile rebuilt transmission) so most people won't go more than $500ish.

In reality you may get more for it if you parted it out and saved the motor for another project. You know as well as I do that most people want stuff for free these days.

There is well in excess of $5000 in parts there but honestly I see no one buying a rolling chassis for that price.Maybe shove the motor in Merlot and put it's motor in this chassis,put on a cheap body with some rust and put a $3000-$4000 price on it.You just have to find someone who wants a 4wd blazer to show but there isnt many like that.Most show 2wds or use their 4wds as 4wds,and those dont want a highly detailed chassis.If you want to get rid of the wheels and tires let me know,though
I think the merlot tub on GQ and the GQ tub on merlot is the way to go,but that's just me...But then you have to get them painted or primered so the colors meet and then if you care about the originality factor,there is no longer a low hump floor for the 2wd which it would have had originally unless it was a 4spd...

I thought about this as well earlier this year and just decided less hassle to find another truck if I want to go 2wd. The LT-1 if properly marketed like EBAY is worth a few bucks. I think I would take the best of everything and sell the rest as a package.

i checked out all your pics that is a supper nice rig.personaly i think to have any real value {which we all know it dose} it would have to be sold compleat and finished or totaly broken down and parted. i think that with that lift and tires the front and rear difs need to be sold sepretly. i couldn't imagine anyone wanting 3.08 gears with 35" tires. an lt1 is an awsome power plant but again i feel it is less than desireable paired with that drive train. again i think it is an awsome ride but to get even a small portion of your investment back i feel you are going to have to compleat it, enjoy it for many years and then sell it peace by peace. good luck in whatever you decide

4x4 blazer frame are just hard to sell, i got 3 here..lol
i still vote to finish GQ, and keep it a 4x4,its so close....

Hmm, Haven't we talked about this before? Anywho, You're lookin minimum 1K for the lift/shocks and brake lines(new). Tires are well over $100 per corner plus rallies are at least $100 for the set. So, yeah you're probably going to do good to get 1K out of the chassis. That engine will work in a 2wd as well as the radiator and brake booster. I think before I took a grand for that chassis I would take the body off whatever rusty 2wd I found(kinda like the last couple you sold ) and bolt it on there and enjoy wheelin it a little. You could always go the route of stretching the blazer frame and bolting on a 67-72 pickup body. There's always a market for those.

Paint GQ and get what she is worth. You are going to loose every other way.

That`s the long and short of it.If that doesn`t offend you,try this...It`s offend not affend genius.
The fact is,no one is going to have a body worthy of mounting that frame that doen`t already have a decent frame,the work/parts are a great headstart,but may not all be what the buyer would have done.For instance,I would want 4" springs all around.
Are you considering switching bodies with Merlot?That would be the next best way to sell off GQ.At least the freshly restored frame would have a complete body that isn`t exactly junk.

Swap the bodies. Put the body from Merlot on GQ frame and sell it as a complete, running rig. Keep the nice parts to build a sweet 2wd (like the engine). Slap a coat of re-sell red on the 4wd on it and put it on ebay.
