AC Cab for Sale

[70short/step]

Nice, rust free AC cab for sale in California. Rust Free with all the body work done. It has been painted yellow inside the roof and dash. It has been sitting a year and a half so it needs a cleaning before you primer and paint the outside.
Asking $1000.00. you can pick it up or for a fee might be able to deliver it a distance depending on how far.

No title but I think the vin tag is laying around here still. Was a goverment truck. not sure what model or what options except AC, but you can see in the pic of the rear of the cab it originally had the trim under the rear window. and I believe a small block and auto tranny with the small hump that it has. I believe its a 71 cab.
Also it didnt have the rear outside light originally but the cab it was supposed to replace did have so the guy that did all the body work took all the meaurments from the old cab and transfered it to this cab and cut it out. You cant tell that it isnt original like that.

a 71 cab has a place where the inside mirror bolts on. has a raise place where it goes

I wouldnt know how to ship this. Cant believe it would be worth the cost if I did. If you know a way let me know if it isnt too much.

A good place to try to get shipping is USHIP.com and its like evilbay and you pretty much put what your willing to pay and people bid on it.

all the 71 i have seen have a place where the mirror goes it don't have it . i have a 72 that has no holes i was told it was put on the windsheild in 72

at this point, I think all I need is a roof for my 72 cheyenne super. !#@! tree fell on it the other day. hopefully I wont have to replace the cab but jurys still out at this point. Youre close by, only about 50 miles from me. Let me know if you know of a roof. Gary

are you going to change the roof yourself? if not, you might want to buy his cab. i checked the bodyshops in my area-about 30 miles from you- and they want 17 hours labor to change a roof and line up the doors, windows etc.. most of the shops around here are at least 100 bucks an hour so i'd seriously consider an entire cab, and besides, once it's painted to match your truck, it's a weekend project to swap it around and the strength of the metal isn't compromised. you could call bill at vintage chevy over the hill from you in fremont(510)651-5874 if you decide to do the roof change or to see what he has in entire cabs. he aint cheap but usually has nice parts

Jerry so how may hrs do you think to R/R out an AC cab? I got wet feet thinking about it and havent really given it much thought. the roof and the right windshield pillar took the worst of it. the pillar doesnt look too bad. its bent over at the top and tweaked out a little at the bottom. the door is hard to open but theres nothing thats metal to metal. Bill recommended steve's body shop in fremont (steve silva) I sent him pics and and hes gonna come out and have a look next week. I dont really like the idea of cutting and welding in new metal though.

you and a couple of buddies could easily swap out a cab in a weekend. after the a-c and radiator are drained, the entire front clip can be pulled off in one piece. pull the doors off your old cab, then gut it and remove from your frame. install the new cab and all the guts from your old cab, hang and align the doors, re-install the front clip and front bumper, fill the lost fluids and drive her
we built a 65 shortbed 4x4 chassis for my nephew several years back, it had all updated running gear and was complete except for the motor. he drove his 63 shortbed 2wd up here from merced on a friday evening after work and we stripped it down, pulled his motor and put it in the 4x4 chassis, re-installed his entire body on the 4x4, ran it down to my work for new exhaust and he was back home before dark on sunday. most of the weekend we had 4 people working on it but we busted our butts and got her done.
