Smile 72 4x4 parts help

I have a SWB 4x4 that is in dire need of replacement parts. The U-bolts that hold the spring pack to the rear end housing are rough at best as are the spacers?? that sit on top of the spring pack (look like camel humps that locate the u bolts) and the cross member is in front of the shock brackets. Is there any vender or other source that has any of these parts- save the crossmember- can the cross member from a 2wd leaf truck or blazer piece be used to replace the original one? Thanks for any help.

Re: 72 4x4 parts help

I replaced the one in front of the shock brackets, 16 rivets! Check out DIY4x4 for some axle parts. I had my U-bolts custom bent for $40 but summit sells them. Be sure to measure you length and axle thickness... Checkk out my build thread for tons of pic of the 68 SWB K-10 frame. Should be pretty much the same... I bought that piece off a board member from AZ. Become a subscriber and post a WTB (WANT TO BUY) ad for good deals...

Re: 72 4x4 parts help

If you don't mind buying from LMC...they have the u bolts and plates to hold the u bolts in place on top of the springs. As for the crossmember, any of the 4wds should have it,I dont think 2wd ones are the same but I may be wrong,I havent compared them..I just fixed my old one..It was rusted on the ends

Re: 72 4x4 parts help

I got my ubolts and top plate from a spring shop. I also removed my crossmember (lots of rivets) and repaired it, sand blasted it, painted it, and then bolted it back together. I never tried a crossmember from a non-4wheel drive truck. Although i did think about it and eyed them up. I just didn't want to cut all those rivets again.
