What did you get done? 08/05

I spent the weekend running service calls. Beyond that I detailed my 06, my wifes 07 and watched it rain on them again. So this morning I detailed my 06, my wifes 07 and watched it rain on them again....

I did manage to put a new seat on my beach cruiser. I have been riding it every morning for the past couple of months and the stock seat was killing my butt. I bought one that is cruiser style, but gel filled so hopefully my butt cheeks won't be numb all day from my morning rides ( Yeah, I know, too much info)

I also got a chance to do the final detail work on my wifes 03 Yukon Denali. I got a few pics at sunset, and put a couple of ads online.

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

I borrowed my friends plasma cutter and I was all set to get my tranny hump welded back in and the driveshaft tunnel, and shocks mounted...at least. I ended up fixed a water leak and drying up my parents basement, and searching for a property marker on the farm. Never found the marker after 4 hours in the suns and sweating like crazy.

All I got done on the truck was bolting the cab on and notching the cab for the driveshaft. Crappy weekend.

Oh yea, I did replace an axle and axle boot on my car; plus I changed oil in it. :l

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

I did a compression test on my 454 that I am swapping into my truck. It looks like I will be able to just swap it in and run it while I gather up some performance parts.

Worked late Fri (14hrs) & went to see the new Bourne flick. Sat dropped tailgate for the 68 off @ a buddies shop to let him straighten it out for me & then played around w/ideas on raising my steel bed floor that's getting swapped onto my 68.

Today..... worked again (13hrs).

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

Kinda a crappy weekend. I was supposed to run the 76 friday at the track but I couldent make it. Saturday I did some waxing on the truck and got rained on of course. I went for a ride today up to San Isable on the bike. Not too bad but I to am needing another seat for my sore buns. I felt kinda sick after the ride so Ive been crashed out off and on since 11.

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

Nothing truckwise, but Corvette-wise...

Installed long tube headers w/ cats, a monster cold air intake, and had it dyno-tuned. 380 rwhp in a 3100lb car is fun... it will burn rubber in 1st, lay a hellish patch on the 1-2, and finally hook up and tear off in 2nd. I love it. Oh, and it sounds downright evil, like a true racecar.

I'm bringing the truck down to the local meet in Austin this Saturday. There was one 73-78 there last time, lowered. Didn't see the guy though. I had my 'vette, went with my Mustang friend. Next week we're bringing our trucks.

It's at the McDonalds at Ranch Road 620 and I-35... exit 252B.

Went to the paintshop on Thursday to help work on my truck...it's getting closer to being all one color. Saturday, spent the better part of the day installing/building a closet organizer for our master bedroom...saw I now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. Sunday, did some house chores and started painting the baby room.

Casual show and shine in a parking lot. There were about 10 'vettes, 5 Camaros, 5 new GTOs, about 10 old Mustangs, 5 new Mustangs, some 50's Chevy's, some Ford Lightnings, some Japanese sports cars (non-ricers), a Viper, miscellaneous hot rods and classics, and a small handful of riced out cars, but they kept to the edge.

I have no concept of where San Antonio is in relation to... well, anything. Guess I better break out a map.

Cool Re: What did you get done? 08/05

I ripped off the front sheetmetal off of the 73 GMC Saturday.

Next is to remove the core support so it can be cleaned up.

Looks like we will be installing a new 454 & 700R4 into it then reassembling all the replacement rust free sheetmetal back onto it.

Work, work, work...

Wish I could bring my 77. Too bad it's sitting in front of my house with no engine. Really didn't plan to have a motor blow up a few weeks before I have to go back to school. Hopefully the machine shop will have some decent news for me tomorrow.

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

Oh yeah, didn't do anything truck-related, matter of fact the Sherman tank hasn't been even fired up since last Sunday, it generally stays parked till I need it for a weekend cruise, and I ain't got none of those coming in the next two weeks. On Saturday tho I spent like 3 hours washing and detailing my car, and what do you know, my front wheels are actually polished aluminum in color, and not brake-dust brownish. I can also see my reflection in the trunk lid, and god forbid any sun shines down the dash pad, I get so much glare it's ridiculous Also while I was at it I finally moved my 110V inverter 3" to the right so now when I lay on the brakes I ain't gonna bust my knee cap on it no more, and since I had the dash halfway apart anyways I ran damn near 10ft of wiring and hooked up said inverter straight to the battery - everything looks so much cleaner and neater now, like a Lincoln is supposed to look like Truck will get attention too, next weekend tho, gotta figure out where the hell did that oil all over the rear of my intake came from...

There is a pretty good show Saturday nights in Austin, too. It's at the Home Depot on 1431 at Parmer. I think the exit number for 1431 is 256.

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

I actually did something truck related for the first time in a long time, though it was very minor. Now that I finally got my Corvette to run properly, I can turn my attention to the truck for my next project. It needs 2 new gas tanks, brackets, straps, and also all new brake lines. Yesterday I crawled under the truck and sprayed all of the bed bolts and tank bracket bolts with penetrant. Tonight I'll probably respray everything, even though I can already guarantee that I'll break every bolt.

Re: What did you get done? 08/05

Truck
Installed Painless wiring 7 circuit auxiliary bus - what a royal PITA! Just being on floor of the cab for couple of hours alone must worth something. Lots of wire routing and crimping.
Replaced AIR pipe on RH. Not too bad
R&R plugs. R44T
Installed battery trickle charger to keep battery happy.
Forgot to crimp injector supply line (+12) - no start and no time to work until next Saturday. Aghhh

Lawn
Need to cut it - week 5. I wonder what neighbours think now.

XYL
Very happy since I was around for small party at friends house.

Me
dead tired...
