69 K20 with original turbo 350?
I've always thought and read that 70 was the first year you could get a auto tranny in the 4wds but I was looking at some of the extra glovebox doors I have and one is from a white heavily optioned '69 K20...Options include tow hooks, tach, manual throttle, cargo lamp,no spin rear end, etc.Anyway, could it have been specially ordered with a auto tranny or possibly a late '69 (70 model) that could have came with a auto tranny? Any ideas,I'm just curious about it...On the label it says "TURBO HYDRA-MATIC*" and the VIN is a '69 3/4 ton V8.

Nope, '69 was the first year. The TH350 was definitely available in the 1969 4WD Blazer.

Re: 69 K20 with original turbo 350?
Hmm,everywhere I've read said 70 was.Werent most of the '69 K5's really 70 models drivetrain wise as in open knuckle axles, transfer cases, etc? They used the rockwell till 70 and there were no autos with a rockwell t-case behind it....

I thought '68 was the last year for Rockwell? I've seen '69s with 205s and the funky bent over shifter- on 4spds. anyway.

Re: 69 K20 with original turbo 350?
Nope,my 69 K10 and all the trucks I've seen had the rockwells in the '69 model year. There may be some late year ones running around with a np205 though....K5s and Jimmys may have been different but I havent seen any np205s in the trucks before '70...

Re: 69 K20 with original turbo 350?
Here's mine...I should have put the rockwell in the SWB,lower output so less angle on the d-shaft..Maybe then I wouldnt have to lengthen the d-shaft..Anyway,here's mine:

Re: 69 K20 with original turbo 350?
For those with '69-70 Blazers with the turbo 350,do you have the dana t-case or np205?
I'm thinking the trucks didnt use the auto trannys in the 4wds till 70 when they started using the 205 but the blazers used the dana t-case in them during 69-70 with the auto. Why? Maybe they thought the dana was a lighter duty transfer case and better suited for a lighter 4wd as opposed to the trucks who would tend to be hauling more, worked harder,etc...Just a thought Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 08-20-2007 at 12:04 AM. |

Re: 69 K20 with original turbo 350?
A buddy of mine had a 69 k-20 with the 205/465, open knuckle d44 and a 292 engine. Supposedly all orginal.
