Daily Driver

alright, so we all talk about the trucks being "Daily Drivers", but lets see the true Drivers. Lets see guy in northern (getting snow) that drive em all winter long. Im thinking of buy a nice little 67 suburban for a winter truck, i really like the looks, and its an I-6, so I'd get good-ish fuel milage, lets see how these truck hold up in the winter months, oil sprayed or not.

Re: Daily Driver

They.... ummmmm, don't

I'm from the real rust belt (southwest NY, south of Buffalo) and I've ridden in quite a few 67-72's that had almost no floor and were gone to the body line on the bottom...and this was back in the 90's!

Andy drives his all year round in ohio!

My truck is a true DD. I don't take it on long trips often, I use my Z71 for that, but just last week I put 175 miles on it just drivin' around

Re: Daily Driver

Orange is a daily.
Drive it about 50 miles a week on average I'd say. I just don't drive a lot, weekly, period.

Some weeks, it's 150 miles, just around town and here and there. Last week was one of those weeks.

Re: Daily Driver

I work for a construction company and drive mine as a work truck, 300+ miles a week. It's been close to 100 degrees this week and I could really use some A/C!

Re: Daily Driver

This is my only ride, I have to drive it to work everyday. Even when we were getting hammered with snow this winter I was cruisin' the highway in my wreck.

Now that it's 90+ degrees out, I'm still driving it.

Re: Daily Driver

i plan on mine being a daily, i mean, c'mon. these trucks were meant to work.

but i'm curious, the winters here in Northern Wis. can be kinda nasty. how've you guys dealt with snow driving? especially with the one wheeled wonders....eek.

(don't mean to thread jack...)

thanks!

Re: Daily Driver

In Saskatchewan heavy snow is a way of life. I found that buying REAL winter tires made a world of difference in my old 70 GMC. Didn't even have to add any weight and I got around fine. Truck had good heat but lost it all through the multitude of holes in the body. I have driven these trucks for years in the winter, but I can honestly say I will never again. Just too many other cheap junkers around to salt up instead of a classic.

Powell I really like your truck and laugh when you say "wreck"..lol. I don't know if it's the color or stance or both but yours is one of my favorites on the board, and there are alot of nice ones on here!

Thank you I really appreciate it, sometimes it looks like a wreck compared to others on here though. But I have no complaints driving it, I made it my DD because I grew up driving old stuff and feel out of my element in new vehicles.

Re: Daily Driver

Mine has been my daily driver for 3 or for years (can't remember what year I bought it). I run the hard top in the winter and the soft top in the summer. This past winter with all the snow we had, I had it in 4wd for about 2 weeks straight.

Re: Daily Driver

I drove this truck for a couple years every day. It never let me down ,it even
made it to work when we had 8 inches of snow and all the guys with thier weeny 4x4's couldnt make it.

I've had it off the road for a couple months for some badly needed bodywork, but hope to have it back on the road in a month or so.
