Dash Speaker(s) - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'd like to mount 2 3 1/2" or 2 4" speakers in the dash to replace the original.
Does anyone have a pattern/template for this?
If you use a chunk of board, would like to know how thick. If you mount it from the original hole, where do you place the rear support strap for the head unit?

Have you considered the speaker setup that are sold for these trucks?
I got my two speaker setup from Chevy Duty, and it mounts to the original bracket. They sound pretty good, not stereo quality though and they were around $30.
