Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

I can get a great deal on my choice of either brand new 50 series Flowmaster that are 2 years old on a camaro that was a toy, or brand new Dynomax mufflers that were never run, either for the same price. What would you choose and why? I listened to sound clips of both, but can't really decide, They both sound good. The truck has a 350 in it with true dual exhaust. Looking for opinions!
As always, Thanks!!

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

I have ran both in the past and currently have the 50 series behind my decently built 400 small block. They dump before the rear end. I think the performance is OK with them. However, I still think they are 2 quiet. I also know the dyno's are having problems with the welds the past several months. As far as performance, go with the 40 series flowmasters and you will be happy. IMO of course

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

THanks for the opinions so far. 40 series are unfortunately out of the question as my truck is on my driveway and next to my neighbors bedroom windows at night. I leave about 5:00 A.M. for work, so starting up the truck with 40 series may not be a great idea. I'm kinda leaning towards the dynomax only because a member has them on a truck here and they seem to sound good. The 50 series may be a litttle too quiet as was stated before. Anymore opinions? I'm going to get them from the guy in about 15 min.

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

those are the dynomax bullets, they're the loudest mufflers made. i have 2 of those, 3 inch version on my truck, louder than glasspacks, loudest thing i've heard other than my truck without any mufflers.

if you want quiet, use the flowmasters. if the dynomax mufflers you're getting are different from the ones in the videoclip than i'm not sure how loud they are, but the bullets are the loudest

i run dynomax ultra flows on my '97 gmc and really like them. i 'm also going to put the ultra flows on my '67 after the v-8 swap.
they have a good sound and are not real loud until you hit the skinny pedal pretty hard. imo

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

I see this question a lot...and it seems like there is no real answer...unfortunatley what ever you pick...it is your till you pay for replacement.

I would like the openness of a good muffler - read good breathability - but I do not want to hear the muffler...I like hearing my stereo more.

After twelve years on submarines my hearing is a bit diminished.

What? What? HUH?

These aren't bullets. They're the Dynomax Welded Race Mufflers. They look just like a flowmaster but are straight through. So, yah the flow is the same but there is stainless steel packing around the pass tube which makes them not so "glass pack" sounding.

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

THanks everyone!! I pulled the trigger and got the Dynomax Mufflers. They are called Magnum Race mufflers. Got both brand new 3" in and out for 60.00. Now to get reducers to fit the exhaust I already have! They look like a straight through design with packing on the sides. Thanks to everyone here for the opinions and help!

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

After researching further it seems the Welded race Magnums became the Ultra Flow Welded race Mufflers. Bryan that was the sound i was going for!! Lucky me! BTW, what engine with what mods do you have? To bad I tore my engine apart yesterday to clean it up!

Re: Muffler opinion Wanted: 50 series Flowmaster or Dynomax?

Just wanted to say that 50 series flows are not that quiet. They are about as loud as turbo mufflers with a different sound of course. With a stock engine and manifolds they are fairly quiet, with headers and a cam thay are a bit more noticable.
