focus on mostly stock 4x4 magazine

Is there a 4x4 magazine that focuses on mostly stock trucks with mild up grades?

I wonder if there isn`t some kind of more "old school" 4wd mag out there. If not, there will be with all the various vintage 4wd interest and all the vehicles I see.
This guy would be into it:

Here's one that does mostly mild modifications and has some vintage trucks in it. If you contact 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers www.4wheelparts.com they will hook you up with their Off Road Adventures magazine www.oramagazine.com. It's free so you can't beat the price! ...Joe

A vintage 4wd mag would be so rad, nothing extreme, mild lifts, tall skinny tires, fully restored trucks.
I pretty much got these all from this board.

Most off road or 4x4 magazines do articles on stock rigs. They don't do all hard core off road modifcations. They run a wide range to pull in the stock crowd and the highly modified group.

Pick up a Four Wheeler at the store and check it out. I wouldn't gripe that they don't do enough of this brand or that brand as most modifications are somewhat universal in type, so you can see what it takes and then look for a company that makes the part/kit for your type of rig.

Re: focus on mostly stock 4x4 magazine

Great pictures. This is my area.I`ve always loved factory 4wds from where they were an uncommon site and just being 4wd set them off. Also, most were bought for a specific use and I love the little "necessities" that were added to give more function. They`re all functional beauties!I always wanted to start a shop called "Vintage 4wd" and focus on the traditional 4wd word.I woldn`t want to see stuffy purist BS,just early model stuff.Even highly modified to competition vehicles as long as they`re from the early days of 4wd.I`m talking all brands, just like a magazine would have to be...
If I was editor,it would tend to have alot of GM(there "ARE" more running examples, right?):

...but plenty of love for the other guys:

There could be a hot rod section within a mostly stock format:

And,a working truck/purpose-built section:

Re: focus on mostly stock 4x4 magazine

Too limited of an intended market. I love old 4x4's just as much as the rest of you (I think I made a mess in my pants with that '56 Napco GMC), but there is only so much you can do with bone stock restos, or mild mods, especially in a limited year frame...like what, for GM- roughly 1950 til '72, maybe a few older military models. They'd run out of stuff after a year or two.

EDIT: not that I'd really trust it, either...the big name 4x4 mags seem to let quite a bit of misinformation slip thru the cracks.

Re: focus on mostly stock 4x4 magazine

I agree, I like them because I never see them. After about 6 issues it would get repetitive. But you think it is pretty much exactly like lowriders, they lower and put on different wheels on a nicely restored impala and theres a mag that shows the exact same looking 62-64 impalas every month and is successful.
