just brought her home tonight...70 c/30 dually

well i finallly bought the truck ive been eyeballin for the past month
it runs and drives real nice. i needed a farm truck so i got a 1970 c/30 dually stake bed. shes got a 350, man 4spd, pb (drum), new panels welded in and decent fresh paint. best part is it will pull the s*it out of my trailers. it is set up for a pintle hitch bu i need a 2" receiver welded up. the only thing that doesnt work (always something) is a marker light on cab, rr blinker and it starts hard after it gets up to temp (maybe the timing is too advanced). i just got a new battery for it tonight. tomorrow ill post pics of my new workhorse
p.s my wife was really excited for me to get it wooohooo

Re: just brought her home tonight...70 c/30 dually

i got it now here are the pics, kinda small though. was very surprised to take it to the gravel pit scales and get a slip for 5420 lbs with a 260lb driver and the stake sides. it really is pretty nice....solid floors, something you dont see up here everyday. it will make a fine hay and goat hauler

Re: just brought her home tonight...70 c/30 dually

im too used to tuning old tractors. it seemed as if the distributor was advanced. so i turned it back a bit (without a timing light ) it started running crappy and kept stalling. i tried to adjust the idle screws on the 2 barrel to compensate for the incorrect timing. of course it didnt work. i want to get this thing running right (need to deilver some hay). at idle what should the timing be? and what should it be with some revs? i have an hei and edelbrock 600/ holley manifold ready to swap on, just dont have the time yet. i love the style of that truck!!!

thats a pretty damn nice truck

set the timming at 8*BTDC and go from there, if its hot there you might want to put it at 10 or 12, mines at 12 right now

Re: just brought her home tonight...70 c/30 dually

might be worth a new timing set if you are gonna work it, 'specially if you can't get the timing quite right!
