Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
The seal for the slip joint on my two piece driveshaft is shot. Where do you get a new seal? I dont think I can replace the seal because I can't get the collar loose. How do you keep the grease in the yoke without a seal?

Re: Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
I have had good luck getting the collars off by spraying them with penetrant, tapping around the collar with a hammer and then use a channel lock pliers to remove them. I have yet had to use heat, but that is an option.

Re: Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
Jim
Thanks for the tip. After soaking it for a couple of days and a few gentle taps with the hammar it came right apart. What a great board. Don

Re: Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
Try LMC truck or Ecklers.

Re: Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
Any driveline shop will have them. How are the slip and stub? If they have lateral play they shouldbe replaced.

Re: Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
LMC, nope. Ecklers, nope. Driveline shops, pretty thin on the ground these days. Just re-used the old seal. It's a driver, not a showpiece.

Re: Driveshaft Slip Joint Seal
How about you just go to your local Oreilly's and pick one up for 10.00
