Hi guys, just thought I would introduce myself on this awesome forum!
You see, I have a problem just like 9 out of 10 guys on this forum. I can't afford to finish the projects that I start and I have to many in the kettle!
Let me explain, I bought this '72 A/C cab shortbed truck from a friend about 11 years ago, he is a real good metal fabrictor and he started to chop the top on it, well I think he realized he sliced it up into too many pieces! He was in a bind for cash and thats where I come in with my $2500. We agreed that he would help me finish the chop. I found another top and we spent a couple of hours to piece some of it together. As you can see it needs alot more time than this to finish it up! It's been in my garage all this time and I just don't have the time or the money to do it. Lately I've been into the Caprice and Roadmaster Wagons [B-Bodys]. I have a '91 Caprice Wagon that I lowered and smoothed out and I picked up a '91 Sedan for my 13 year old boy to have when he turns old enough to drive and we could work on it together. I just pulled this truck out of the garage after about 2 years without moving it and I threw a battery in and a couple of dumps of gas down the carb and rumble-rumble she fires right up! I'm getting long winded so I'll just give you some pictures to look at.

just put an original roof back on it...truck looks to be in real decent shape otherwise. It will sell a LOT quicker with a stock roof. Just my .02 cents

Welcome form a fellow Ashtabula Oh resident! I have to agree with the above poster, it takes a special person to finish a chop half way done.

First welcome to the board. My vote is to bite the bullet and finish it as it is. Yes you can find an original roof and put it back but by the time you do all that how much have you saved in money and time just to have what everyone has. From the looks of that truck it is going to be a mean machine with the chop. Just my opinion.

Im not a fan of chopping trucks it just doesn't look right but thats just my opinion if you like it finish it, if not like the other two said it would be easy to get a stock top and replace it who knows the donor vehicle may have all the glass and you wont have to order custom cut glass, that'll save some$$$$$

This is an old cliche, guy starts a top chop, can't find someone who will or can do the glass OR it costs too much $$$, guy gives up, sells vehicle

I say keep it, cut the whole damn thing off and just leave the windshield post

i agree to that chop it .......and imo its easy to bail on a project...hell anyone can do that........finish it.. you wont be kicking your self in the arse 20 years from now

how much you wanting for it ? if the price is right i might be interested...

If it was mine I'd find another cab or at least an uncut top and put it back the way it was. I think a chopped top would just seem out of place and the truck already looks custom enough without it.

I split my project time between my 67-72 trucks and a '77 b-body Caprice 2 door Coupe, I know how you feel.

I know what both of you meen I try to do as much as I can to my 68 and 97 and seem to not get very far, but hey its a good thing I got rid of my toyota rock crawler which probably had as much money and time as the other 2, due to the fact Id brake it every other weekend. All this and being a first time father for the last 16 months but the kid thing is easy compared to getting your projects done.

I do agree with you guys, it does look better non chopped! At least not to the degree it is now. I have scouted about the local yards and have found a half way decent top for $75. If I were to chop it it would only be about 2 inches at the most and the way I would do it is lean the a-pillar back and cut below the back glass so that way I would just sink the non-cut top down and back 2 inches and fit the doors to the top. This is the way IF-Customs did it.

My wife has been hounding me to get it out of here for a long time and I know I will regret it if I do. Pulling it out of the garage and hearing it run makes me want to get it done!

68 c-10, I seen that you were from Ashtabula but failed to see a picture of your truck! Got any?

I say just finish it to sell if you don`t like it.It`s already chopped,it just needs finished.Plenty of people like chopped trucks.Take the money and get what you want.Sell it as is?You may have bought it for more than what it`s worth,solely based on the fact that until that chop is done you got nothing.

Join the site and sell it - Someone will put a stock top on it and a non-vented hood and it'll be a nice truck!!
SWB trucks are getting RARE and in demand - also cab TOPS are easier to find than whole cabs, so thats no a problem either. Hoods - hell I have 5 straight hoods in my shop now...
Here in Houston, that SWB would sell in days - no question

i think it looks pretty good myself, just needs to be finished up and some touch ups on the paint and youve got a good cruiser

Let whoever buys it worry about the top...over

Just cut worrying about that part right out and sell the truck on it`s other good qualities.If the buyer expresses chop top envy,more power yo ya.If the chop top is hangin`them up(why`d they look?),let then know how it`s fairly simple to get it back to `rignal.

As far as I know it still belongs to my brother at Henley's Kustom , I've had some heart ailments of late and haven't been by there. I have a 91 custom cruiser but not nearly as sweet as that one. Google his site , they do some nice work.
