Re: What Do They Go For?????
It would sell for about the same as unicorn or pegasus or other mythical creature. JK, it would have a higher value than a reproduction because of fit in most cases. It really just depends on the sellers knowledge and how badly he wants it sold.

Re: What Do They Go For?????
I was gonna say plan on 500 or so. If you have time, you can find them much cheaper, and in almost perfect shape. But 5 bills will get you an almost perfect gate any tijmeof the year.
Oh yeah... plus shipping. As for the thread being deleted/modded... a what can i expect to pay thread, is not the same as a What is this virgin gate on my truck worth.... This thread is fine. |

Re: What Do They Go For?????
The GMC tailsgates are hard to find in good shape. I bought a whole truck just to get the tailgate!

Re: What Do They Go For?????
Like I said, if you have time, and some luck, you can get a deal. I got mine, I'd give it a 9 out of 10... it'd be a 10 if it hadn't been shot bya small caliber pea shooter... and I got it on the parts board for 75 bucks. (!!!!) That was for a 69 - 72 GMC gate.
Deals can be found, but they are far and few between. |

Re: What Do They Go For?????
I`ve never heard of anything but a n.o.s. tailgate go for over $500.I`ve seen new take-off gates go for close to that, but it was like new,as in paint and all.
A good straight rustfree tailgate is worth $300 as a rule.I bought a new take-off last year for $200 from a board member.I saw some at a big national swap meet going for 200-300.I sold a n.o.s. tailgate for $500 last year because it was slightly less than perfect.it had a small area of suface rust from the cardboard factory packaging holding moisture. Also, the guy bought a couple other n.o.s. things as a package.A n.o.s. gate could go for as much as $800. So,$200-300 is the range for a good original gate.
