don't want to damage the trim? i assume only the Cheyennes/CST had this trim in 69? I am clueless on this and searching the board forum came up with everything but what i needed to know. thanx, crossy

you have to take the window and gasket out to remove the trim from the gasket

I am assuming your asking how to remove the trim.. You must remove the window to properly do this. From the inside of the cab you will need to cut the rubber about 1/2'' or so from the edge of the rubber all around. This rubber seal is the only thing holding the window in the cab. You can put a ((little)) pressure on the window outwards. Its a good idea to have someone in the bed to hold the window while you cut. So it doesn't fall out of the opening and break. IF your rubber is original you will most likely have to do it this way because the rubber hardens over time. After you have it out you'll have to cut the rubber to get the window out. Sometimes it will peel off easy sometimes not. The trim is made with a lip on the back of it that fits in a channel that is made in the rubber,.I had to put mine back in after painting my truck. Take your time. Rushing or pushing too much will break your glass. Hope this helps. CHUCK.

so you guys have to replace the rubber every time you remove/replace a rear window?
the rubber is soft. I assume this rubber is unique to the model with the trim? Or do all the trucks have this?
the truck has a NICE tinted rear sliding window with black frame so do i want to try to save the rubber or is this impossible?
it has the same trim around the front windshield.

Well in my experience my rubber was stiff. The rubber is specific to the custom trim. Not all trucks have this trim. New rubber seals better also. LMC truck sells it. And new trim if you damage it or if it has dings. If your rubber is soft try to get out. For me, its always easier to cut it.

cst's and customs had the stainless trim.
If the rubber is soft, and you have a slider (They were not an option), you may have replacement rubber.
If you want to remove the rubber intact, run a nylon string/small rope around the inside (on the cab side), between the cab steel and the inside of the rubber; make a complete circle around the circumference of the window. Put a loop on one end of the rope and run the other end through it, then pull on the end that you placed through the loop until the rubber pulls away from the cab/body. This takes a little muscle. some liquid dish soap with water will help. have a couple of buddies help you, one on the inside while you pull on the rope and keep it tight; and one on the outside to catch the window.

this is definitely an aftermarket rear window and a darn nice one IMO. so i guess cutting the windshield trim out is the only way to go. thanx fellows

rubber was soft. broke seal all around with cotter pin removal tool, used soapy spray and .080 weedeater string to do the job and did it by myself., thanx guys ,crossy
