Sup guys wanted to know if anyone has upgraded their headlights to some HID or Xeon kits/bulbs....really look'n for better lighting for night driving. any info or pics would be great.

have you done the headlight relay mod?
That alone made a big differece for me with stock headlights, but combined with a set of halogens, it could be even brighter. (they're on the to-do list)

Only suggestion would be use a circuit breaker and not a fuse. I got a bracket w/ two relays off of a late 80s or 90s something mopar family car at pull-a-part.

nice, looks really simple too! Is it a major noticable difference in the brightness....like do the lows turn into highs and the highs turn into freight train lights?!lol

What happens originally in these GMs is the 12v power leaves the battery, crosses over to the horn relay, then from there enters the truck. From there it serves the headlight switch, and everything else under the dash (and whatever else people have added thru out the years). Then, when you pull the light switch to on, it runs back out to the headlights.

With the relays, you have FULL battery power at the relays, ready to be trigged from the headlight switch.

Your headlight switch now does not have to turn on "big" power anymore, just "click" the relay, close the contacts, and send full power to lights.

Everything also runs cooler. (ie: switch, under dash wiring)

AS I mentioned in the above link....a breaker is better.

thanks mayn, looks like I got a nice weekend filled project of wiring...putting in some new autometer guages...oil pressure and electric fuel guage.

I have H4 headlights in both of my trucks. One truck has the projector style. They suck, but they look cool. The other has Hella and they are very nice. They have the blue-ish style bulbs and the head light relay modification is a must. To mount the extra deep H4 bulbs you'll need to widen the headlight bucket holes. I did this with a cut off wheel and a die grinder. Also I don't recommend the "City light" which is an extra little h3 bulb that is blue. They just keep falling out, so I removed them.http://

Do you by chance have pics of your light setups? Also what made the projector lights suck? I havent gotten around to the relay mod yet but soon I will.

The projector lights cast a very strange light pattern. They're very bright to look at but cast the light straight down to the ground and sides but hardly any forward. In fact low beam works better for driving than high. I'm working on posting pics.

hehehehe, yah looks like your picture links arent embeding. Yah Im all about clear vision at night...if you got your H4 setup to work then Im sure I could fabricate a HID kit as well.

The HID should hook up to the lambs the same as the H4. i can't get the post to work but you could check out my webshoots album. heres that link.
