Re: Help!!!

The wiring in your GMC is different from that in Chevy's. I would suggest that you visit the GMC site at:

http://6066gmcguy.org

They have a section on electrical that may be of help. If you check with the moderator, Jolly Goodfellow, he also has a scan of the GMC wiring diagram that he could e mail to you that would be helpful as well.
Regards,
Steve

Re: Help!!!

First pic is horn relay and regulator, the main power feed goes through the horn relay(just a terminal). It looks exactly like the wiring on my Chevy by the way...
here's a link to some wiring diagrams in color I did last year.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=193429

2nd pic of headlight dimmer, you can tell the wiring has been modified to say the least. It looks like somebody hacked the wiring off at the bulkhead connectors and just routed new wires where ever they could. You can get new terminals at Napa and go back to stock connectors. Mine was soo bad when I got it, I had to redo every wire exect the fuel sending wire.

The horn relay should be in the block of that Painless kit.

Re: Help!!!

You need the horn relay only for the horn, you'll have to have power to it for the horn to work. The two terminals are really a power block of sorts(bad idea) under the hood they always rust up and are uncovered so you could short them out. I bypassed these terminals for main power and put in a power terminal that I can run power to my relays to(fan/lights/horn) and over to alt(might go inside first I can't remember).

Re: Help!!!

I had the same nightmare when I picked up my truck. I ordered a Ron Francis fuse panel and a complete bumper to bumper wire harness and eliminated the whole mess. She's nice now! Don't have to worry if she's going to start or not. Thought that was going to be a big job to install, I could've had my preteenage kids do it. Every wire is color coded and labeled every foot. I was amazed at how easy it was to install and it didn't take long at all!
