65 gmc bench seat

got one more for you guys who have all been very helpful, thx. I'm not sure how much chevy/gmc changed their seats but was curious if a bench seat from a 72 woudl fit in a 65 without drilling new holes. just not sure

thx.

Re: 65 gmc bench seat

Old thread, but I'm looking for the same answer...I looked at a nice '73-'87 seat today which I was told would bolt up in the front and need mods in the back. That wasn't the case, the front mounts are horizontal and there are two additional rails in the center.

I've also seen many posts that early 90's trucks bolt right up in the front. Not sure where to go at this point and finding seats of any year is hard period.

Good luck, I need some too.

Re: 65 gmc bench seat

thx Tim still don't have a clear answer yet although I have found several seats, one I want is in a 65 chevy sitting at the junk yard which I can buy for 550.00 it has alot of parts I want to use on it. My friend says I can make payments on the truck but have to get a few things off my bill list first. he says he will take payments on it so I'm gonna try to lay 100.00 down on it at the end of the month

I had an early 90's seat in my 62 and 61, this seat does not bolt up at all. You will have to position the seat where you want it and drill new holes. They do look real good in these old trucks. Not sure on the 67-72 seats.

Re: 65 gmc bench seat

That's what I thought...don't know why everyone seems to post that the front mounts match up.

Thanks for confirming 62 Short Step!

Re: 65 gmc bench seat

IIRC, the floor changed between the 66 & 67. When I put a late 90's split bench in my 69 I was able to use the front corner holes, so there is some truth to the statement.
