Convert T221 transfercase to the 205
I was wondering if anyone else here has experience with this modification.? The PO on my truck had already did it and used spacers about 1 1/4 inches thick to drop the transfercase because of the difference in output height in the 2 styles of transfercases. It is a K-20 so it has the 2 piece rear driveline with the carrier bearing. I am assuming this was the reason for the drop.

Try posting this in the 4x4 section you will have better luck.
Your post isn't very clear about what information your looking for. If you need a measurement of d-shafts, or distance below framerails, I can help my 67 k20 has been converted to a sm465 with a 205t/c. I can get you some measurments if you want. Nick

Re: Convert T221 transfercase to the 205
I know the transfer case crossmember used with the Dana 20 transfer case and the NP205 transfer case are different. When I put an NP205 in place of the Dana 20 that was in my K5 I had to use spacers to drop the Dana 20's crossmember, otherwise the top of the NP205 transfer case hit the bottom of the floor.
I guessing that might be what occurs with the NP205 and T221 transfer cases. You can see the 1" spacer I used under the crossmember and there is also a set inside for the upper frame mount.

Re: Convert T221 transfercase to the 205
To put it simply, the 221 was a dropped output that ran off a different shaft than the direct output inline with the trans output. Approximately 3 inches lower I believe. That is what requires the lowering blocks.
