Best gears for the quarter mile?
4:10 or 3:73?

that depends on your engines power band..if the motor makes it power from 3500-7000 then 4;10s or 4;56 would be the ticket, but if the motor is more in the 2000-6000 range I would go with 3;73s

Sometimes if your engine makes gobs of low end torque (500 ft-lbs) around 2000, even 373's are a little too much. I wouldnt go below 350's though. Mr. Gasket has a really great program called Dragstrip 2000. It will give a pretty good idea of track performance if you know your engine specifics. You can change inputs and see the outputs on the screen.

4.10s would be my choice after looking over your engine/converter combo.

Both work good, it depends on your powerband and tire size.

To tell the truth we haven't installed the 3:73 yet, they were supposed to go in a few weeks ago but I put it off ( I changed the signature ) 4:10 are better off the line but 3:73 are better after, true or no? I raced a new GMC truck a couple of days ago and he beat me bad off the line but I caught up to him in a few seconds and blew past him.
